[#3678] update name when firstname or lastname is edited

11 years 8 months ago - 11 years 7 months ago #209312 by comyoo
Hi,

We use the e-mailadress to login.
We use firstname and lastname on profile.

When someone edit his / her firstname of lastname, the new value is imported in the joomla 'name' field, so the name in the breadcrumbs and 'name' field when auto-update it in a form isn't correct anymore.

I think auto-actions can help me out, but not get the right configuration yet. Can you help me out. As attachment a screenshot of my auto-action rule.

Or is there another way to do this in default?

Name column in _user users is supposed to be a compilation of First Middle Last. Joomla doesn't have a first/middle/last, only CB does. It should update when any of CBs name fields change. Is this not the case?

when edit by example last name in backend (administrator) user manager from CB the 'name' is created from the firstname and lastname. But if you edit your firstname or lastname on profile on the frontend online the one you edited will be imported in the 'name' field.

I think I configured something wrong. But what?

"name" is made up from "first middle last". That's working as intended. If you change first then it'll update name with the new first. Same applies for middle and last. Are you wanting to change "name" and "first" independently (separate from one another)? Don't understand why you need to, but anyway you can't.

Hi,

I want the first and lastname to be putted together in the name field as intented. But something does go wrong.

When I frontend edit lastname or firstname with the ajax plugin enabled, only the one you change is put in the name field. And not both firstname and lastname is combined.

When I edit in backend it works fine.

Profile edit also works fine? You always need to be specific from the beginning of your post. If I'd known it was ajax usage specifically it would've been significantly easier to review what is wrong. ;)

Editing individual name fields doesn't fire the reformat function. That's only done after a profile update so that'll need to be added to the ajax core fields plugin.

Was able to confirm as a bug and have created the below bug ticket for investigation.
