CB Content Module Example code needed

4 months 3 weeks ago #313274 by billraydrums

I'm not that great of a programmer and need a little push as to how to query the fields to make content display on a page.

What I'd like to do is place a series of 1-3 randomized instructors' profile pics and a short bio underneath their photo, and have a link back to their profile on the site seattledrumschool.com

Can you point me in a direction with some code samples? I think that would also be something good for your support wiki as well.

Thanks for making great software!

On another note, if you guys like awesome guitar music, I will be in Europe in September (2019) with Paul Gilbert (the guitarist) and if are anywhere near one of our tour stops, stop by and say hello. :D

Shouldn't need CB Content Module for that. CB Online Module comes with a new Random ordering option. Create a CB Online Module within Extensions > Modules then for Display Mode select Custom Latest. Next under Custom Latest tab select Random for Field. This should then randomly select users to display in the module. Now set Limit under Module to 3 so it only ever displays 3 users. If you want it to display avatars be sure you select "avatar" for Layout under Advanced Options. If you want to completely customize what it displays per user you can use the User-text parameter under Module and supply substitutions as described in the below tutorial.
