Someone hacked my index.php file and injected an iframe tag with a url to a russian web server. I wonder if this is a joomla vulnerability, or just a general server exploit?

Has anyone had this happen to them? If so, what's the best way to protect against it?

This is probably a common Joomla problem. If your configuration.php & index.php is world writable, script kiddies are able to mess around with it. Do a search on the Joomla forums on this, you'll be amazed @ what you'll find!
