The idea is that you keep most of the information private until a connection is established. For example:

At first you can browse all users and look at their "General Info" TAB, but nothing more than that. You find a person you know and you request connection, ONCE THE CONNECTION IS ESTABLISHED, then you could see all the details such as his/her address, photo album, etc.
