Are you saying that when you are logged in as a registered user that you can get to your profile screen and click the update image link and it takes you to the screen where the upload button is? And then when you click upload it takes you to a screen that says "you are not allowed to veiw this page"

I'm trying to figure this out but there are alot of variables.

Could you describe step by step what you are doing and what screen you are at?
