No Update for New Users returning from Paypal

12 years 3 months ago #189733 by griffweb
I have an issue where some users are not getting updated with their subscription when using Paypal. It is a very intermittent problem but I have seen it about 6 times over the last month. It seems to be with new users. No error log. It is as if they are not being returned to the site nor is the IPN working. I just don't know what to do about it with nothing in the error log. Many complete without issue. We get the notification from Paypal that the transaction was successful but CB_Subs is not updating.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Mike

IPNs fix users not returning to the site (PDT), but if not configured properly that won't work (nor will recurring payments). Please review your documentation as well as the backend of your PayPal gateway carefully for configuration instructions. Within your PayPal account you're also able to review what notifications sent as well as resend those that failed.

I have verified the IPN, PDT and eberything else I could think of on Paypal. I verified the backend on CB_Subs with the Paypal GW. I resent the transactions turning messages on. I have looked at the IPN message and URL on transactions that work and those that do not and cannot seem to find anything to indicate why some just randomly fail.

I have users who have had subscriptions for a long time that fail on renewal (manual), new subscribers that fail, Auto-renewal that work and fail. It is something intermittent.

Resending the IPN message again does not result in success. It still fails. Nothing in the error log..

Any ideas?? I know, it is a tough one..

Thanks,
Mike

Can you see the IPNs within CBSubs > Notifications? If not then your site isn't receiving the IPNs. Also note renewals and such can fail if for example their payment method expires on time of renewal, etc..
