I can say that changes have and how do I upgrade?

You should backup first (always) and then upgrade first to CB 1.9.
If you are on Joomla 1.5 or greater and you are upgrading from CB 1.8 or greater then the upgrade is a simple install over of component and modules.
After that you can upgrade to CBSubs GPL 3.0 - again a simple install over.
You will not lose any settings or configurations.

You already have latest CB. To upgrade CBSubs just install it as you would any CB plugin from CB > Plugin Management and it'll upgrade.
