Is CB replication-aware? was created by ignatius2
Hi,

Do you know if joomla3+CB is replication-aware. IOW, If I can make it write on a master DBase and read from slaves on other machines?

It seems that the solution is simply to insert a link pointing to the IP address of the master server in the Joomla menu of the read-only site?

As they access the site, visitors are always directed towards the "Read only" slave site. From the slave site, as they click on the login link or login menu item, users are redirected to the IP address of the master site.

Is this the best way to do this or am I missing something? This seems too simple.

Thanks

Jon

You want to have 1 database for multiple sites? Should work fine as the live_site is generated internally by Joomla and is want handles the URLs so you don't need to do any IP pointing, redirects, or anything of the sort. CB and CBSubs aren't domain specific.

Thanks Kyle,

I understand. However, I was referring to a case where the "writes" and the "reads" are NOT handled on the same database. I.e.:, the "read" are done on the local machine but the "writes" are done on a separate server.

The local database is replicated to one or several read-only front end databases behind a load balancer. Sorry if the question was a little bit unclear.

Thanks

No idea. CB database API passes off to Joomla API. So if you have some sort of SQL library in Joomla that does this already then it should work in CB too.
