User List does not show special characters right

User List does not show special characters right was created by geeffland
In the user lists I created a simple list that shows the name and username along with a few other fields. In the name field I have some names with & which show up as &

You mean & a m p ; ?

If you use "name", this is a Joomla field.

Indeed, Joomla from around version 1.0.9 added html specialcharacters treatment into their database record.

I believe this is a Joomla bug, as database records should be clear-text.

This escaping should happen at display time and not at database storage time.

Please post into joomla Q&T 1.0 forum and on Joomla 1.0 bugtracker.

I will post over there as well..

did some quick digging...

database has & a m p ;
both Joomla user manager and detail (after selection) show it correctly as &

CB user management list is ok but detail view is still & a m p ;

So it looks like Joomla is processing it with the & a m p ; so not too sure if they will call it a bug... will report anyway though

It IS a bug, since it breaks any searches in the database.

You never want to have escaped text with & a m p ; or \ ' in a database, as it breaks searches.

This correction will be to late for Joomla 1.0.11, so it belongs to Joomla's bug tracker (maybe put URL to this thread in there, so the discussion, reasons and follow-ups are catched)
