Answer is no - there are a number of issues even with legacy plugin enabled.

Solution is a new version of the gallery that is CB 1.2 compatible and takes advantage of the extended CB API so that the gallery plugin will be compatible with whatever CMS is compatible with CB.

The reason the gallery works on this site (Joomlapolis), is because Joomlapolis is using version 1.0.15.

Followup question (it always happens): when will the next gallery version be released?

Answer: when its ready. Most likely after CB 1.2 turns stable. It is currently in development phase but we are still in CB 1.2 gear.
