Default Permissions when installing component

Anyone know of setting in Mambo to make all Mambo created file/folders be owned by another unix user? I need to change the owner of all www files/folders to a specific unix user.

Since I'm using space on an hosting provider I cannot chown the files over to me. For instance, when Mambo installs comprofiler all the files are in the www group and I cannot modify them.

any ideas?

You could just ask your host to get their butts working for ya.

But if www owns the files, then www might be able to chown them.

This means you could try writing a script to chown your files.

If ur interested in trying yourself, check php.net/chown for example scripts.

Maybe joomlaexplorer could be of use (not sure it can chown?), or some backend that your hoster might have.. plesk, cpanel, that has a filebrowser.. this filebrowser is most probably also owned by www..

Good luck.

yeah, I've bugged them a few times about chowning the files over to me. I guess I could write a component that chowns the file, but I'm surprised that no one else has this problem. I usually merge in all my hacks with the new release, so this pain for me..

oh well..

I use JoomlaXplorer - it basically accesses the filesystem using the same ownership as them.
