I appreciate your replies but the without locating the paths and the file names I cannot waste anymore time on a simple issue like this.
The worst is that I found some of what I was looking for in:

root/components/com_comprofiler/plugin/language/default_language/default_language.php

But get this I cannot even Chmod the files with my FTP client so I can change the entries I have found.
Or with the Control Panel File Manager. Yes it is Unix.
In fact I cannot Chmod anything related to CB.

The only option I have is to backup my Web Site.
Download the backups.
Clean Up/Delete the Site.
Make a new database.
Upload the backups after editing them on my computer.
Then Rewrite the whole site permissions.

Just to get rid of the daft button text.
An irritating box with a drop down menu on the search page showing all other lists, (incidentally when you click on these lists all the users with registered access come up even though they have been set to special only viewing in the back end)
Unimportant text additions as referred to earlier.

A week of work wasted.

So the long and the short is I think I will either uninstall and forget CB or Disable it.

The irony is the Joomla search does exactly what you tell it. But it cannot see the CB entries. It feels like CB has taken over the Joomla installation.

I am sure there must be a solution but the search on this site takes you round in circles so I am not sure it is a good idea anyway.

I do appreciate those that tried to help though.

If I can be bothered to persevere I will post back with a solution.

Don't hold your breath though.

Your host company is causing this.
It is messing up ownership on your files.
In fact Joomla 1.5 introduced the FTP layer to handle these stupid issues caused by bad hosting environments.

The only option I have is to backup my Web Site.
Download the backups.
CleanUp/Delete the Site.
Make a new database.
Upload the backups after editing them on my computer.
Then Rewrite the whole site permissions.

Or ask your hosting company to change permissions for you and then enable FTP layer.

I do not think this is an issue with the host.
I am changing file permissions on a regular basis daily.
This is the first time in three years this has happened.
I have the latest Joomla 1.5.10 though. Is the 1.2 CB compatible?

I have been using Fire FTP in a firefox browser.
The File Manager in Control Panel.
FileZilla.
WinScpp.

I can change any file or folder with the above but not CB files or folders.

Yes CB 1.2 is fully compatible with Joomla (all versions).

Ask your hosting company to assist you.

Ask them why you cannot remove these files.

I am willing to bet that they will respond that ownership of files has changed.

Of course CB cannot do this.

With all due respect, I AM subscribed and there is nothing in the manual that advises on this minor issue.
