the tab is set to 'Everybody' and the plugin is set to 'public' - but still nothing

I did get it to work by editing the SQL from the backend.
You'll need to go to the file named cb.authortab.php
it's in components/com_comprofiler/plugins/user/plub_cbmamboautortab/
Once you've opened it delete line 30:
. "\n INNER JOIN #__sections AS s ON s.id=a.sectionid AND s.title != 'Mamblog'"
And that should do it.

Don't need to delete the line containing:
. "n INNER JOIN #__sections AS s ON s.id=a.sectionid AND s.title != 'Mamblog'"
Juste replace the word INNER by LEFT.
