Probelm with CB registration and Sh404SEF

15 years 3 weeks ago #93854 by tekfix

Joomla 1.5.9
Community Builder 1.2 Stable
com_sh404SEF-15_1.0.19_Beta_build_232.joomla1.5.x
and others

I have exactly the same setup, and the same problem. The cb reg.form shows up, but when it is sent the user is moved to a login page and no new user data goes into the database...

Any solution?

did the above solution work for anyone else in the long term?

I've tried it but I realized it prompts me to delete the sef cache when I save. In the past, deleting the cache on it's own has temporaryly solve the problem but it comes right back once the URL list starts growing again.

I'm waiting to see what happens but I'm praying this has fixed it long tern for someone out there.

UPDATE - This Does Not Work! See the later post that does.

OK - first of all no promises, but this seems to be working.

The issue with registration seems to be if the registration page or module is EVER displayed on a restricted page. It Breaks the system. i.e. All instances of the CB register page become restricted. My best guess is the "delayed breaking as the URL list grows" is the result of CB Login being displayed on "My Profile" page. i.e. everything works when you clear the cache and then breaks the first time someone logs in and views a restricted page

SOLUTIONS:
1) Do Not display CB Login one "All" pages.
Only display it on the home page. (from within the module manager)

2) If you need a Log In on "every" page create a menu button(In menu manager).

I'm including these settings since they may be part of the solution. I don't think there relevant to the Registration issue.

In Global configuration:
All 3 SEO settings are YES.

sh404SEF settings I'm using:
note: you need to be in Advanced Mode to see most of these.

in By Component
everything is default

Advanced:
defaults

PlugIns:
insert CB name - No
Insert user name - no
insert user id - yes
insert pseudo - yes
short URL to user profile - yes

It seems to be working now.
If it works for you please respond here.
IF you know why this works or have a better explanation please post it here.
I will post this on the sh404SEF forum as well.

Good Luck!

Update.

OK here's what I know at this point.
CB Registration and sh404SEF

First and foremost IF your registration page is ever displayed on a Restricted access page. It's not going to work. Check to make sure you don't have CB login showing on any pages with restricted access. i.e Do Not use "ALL" in menu selection

The Problem
your User Registration page is name "Community"
Your Profile page "My Profile" is also named "Community"

So nobody can register since it's connected to a "registered only" page.

Solution:
Find the 2 URLs called Community
Change the second one to "Community2" after you confirm it's working you can rename it to "My-Profile"

Should solve that problem
