Illegal Characters in UserName during Registration

15 years 9 months ago #68826 by itchibahn
Just realized that some of my users have strange usernames such as "Happy! Day!".

I'm using Joomla 1.0.13 w/ CB1.1, and it's allowing illegal characters in username during registration. So far, except for "-", it's allow just about every character including blank spaces, !,@,#,^,*...

This is so strange, when I register using "-" it pops up saying "no spaces allowed", and yet it allows it.

Is anyone else noticed this and having same problem? Is there a fix for this? You can see this problem at PCShare.Com.

my users are being able to register with spaces. Even though the tool tip says no spaces. They are unable to log in. I can't find how to not allow spaces during signup. Or.. if spaces are allowed during signup, they should be allowed for login.

I am using 1.0.12 & cb 1.1

CB 1.0 & 1.1 are basically obsolete. The long list of stickies in this thread illustrate the number of bugs. Most issues are addressed in 1.2. Not all are bugs but can also be results of Joomla version, templates, DB version, PHP version etc.

In the case of spaces in usernames, this is likely a Joomla issue you can find in their forums by searching "username space".
