I'm having an issue where I have set the configuration for the user profile to not enforce field validation, yet when I am in the back end admin section of my website and try to delete the data in a field, I receive an error stating that the field is required.

More specifically, the webmaster account has written all of the content thus far on my website. Obviously, webmaster doesn't need a last name, but last name is a required field, so i put in the character code for a space as a place holder until I can resolve the issue.

How can we fix this?
