Can anyone help?

Can anyone help? was created by knoxben
ok so I made a really dumb mistake.

After upgrading to CB 1.2 I was not showing my avatsrs, so in my ignorance I deleted the mos_core_acl_aco table complete. After I did that I can't log into the admin part of the website.

So I recreated the table, but I don't know how to add a user or anything like that. I am still unable to login to the backside. Can you or anyone help at all? If this is not a quick fix I'd be willing to pay to get this fixed!

thanks for being willing to help,
ben

delete your configuration.php from the root directory of your site, navigate to your site, and it should allow you to reinstall joomla, recreating your users. You'll likely have to reinstall (like an upgrade) your addon extensions, but as long as you back up the files changed (i.e.- the upgrade instructions tell you what to backup to keep your configurations in CB) you should be able to do this fairly easily. Better yet, back up your whole site and database to another directory before beginning.

ok, thanks for the advice. Does it matter that my site is installed in a subsite? I have a fair amount of custom stuff, will I have to re-do all of that. For example, I have over 250 games I have added to my PUArcade, will I lose that if I do what you are suggesting?

thanks for your help,
ben

I would ask the PUArcade developer to let you know how best to do it. In other words, I'm not sure, but I would think saving your database and site to another directory prior to reinstalling Joomla would allow you to restore your previous tables from the backup directory to add the old data from your games after you repopulate the initial fields with the Joomla reinstall to give you your user data back.

I'm not an expert at restoring, so maybe someone has an easier way, but this way would at least keep your old tables/directories so no data is lost.

 Anyone with more experience is welcome to jump on this one to confirm this is the best way or let us know a better way. :)

PS - I assume you don't have a bak_ file for the table you deleted or that would definitely be the easiest way to restore the table you lost.
