Is it possible to force a user to change their password on first login?

I am re-writing an existing site, and there was no way for me to move the existing username/password data. Therefore, I had to create each user with a "starting" username/password. I would like to force them to change the password the first time they log on using the "starting" password.

If you have a database backup, you can import the old data, including passwords.

This is not a site I own, and the user data is not CB or Joomla data, nor is it in a mysql database. The current host of the site has not been very cooperative about sharing data. That is why I was not able to move the existing user data to the new Joomla/CB version I am creating.

I would be interested this too. I could import the users with all the same password, but need a good way to force them to change the password on first log in.

I'd think the best way would be to write a plugin that triggers on the first login on or after a certain date. I'm not qualified to give advice past that.

Me 3 - forcing a password update on next login would be a great plugin. I have a need for that function today also.
