confirmation emails isnt sending

confirmation emails isnt sending was created by asap20
My confirmation emails isnt sending. one question i need to know is; do i need to install the Mail Server role on Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition and what settings does it need.
If not how do i reslove this problem. I have tried all the suggestions made in this forum.

Yes, an email service is needed to handle emails.
I assume that your Joomla mass email is also not working.

thanks! Do you all have any documentation on configuring the windows mail server for joomla. i have server 2003 Standard Edition. I read all the documentation but it didnt highlight that

I installed the Email server but still no luck. Any one else knows how to configure the Email server in server 2003 for joomla 1.5.7

Also mass mail isnt working. i am getting the error message "Could not instantiate mail function.
"
