Registration & user confirmation very slow...

Hi there

Tested CB 1.2 RC3 thoroughly and have found one very disturbing behavior: When users try to register, the registration script takes about 50-60 seconds to work successfully.

Same phenomenon occurs, when the user klicks on the registration confirmation link, that is sent to him by mail.

When I turn on debug in J! site mgmt menu, it reveals no error message ... after a wait time of 50-60 secs, the "Registration successful" page displays normaly. Same happends when user confirms his account after receiving confirm e-mail.

Config:
Browsers tested: IE7, FF 3.0.3
OS: Ubuntu Server Hardy LTS (64-bit)
WS: Apache 2.2.8
PHP: PHP 5.2.4
Joomla: J! 1.5.7 (legacy on)
CB: CB 1.2 RC3 (Remark: had the same problem with CB 1.2 RC2 before)

Does this problem sound somehow familiar to you? Its just very annoying that the registration script takes 50-60 seconds to respond to the browser.

Thanks for your hints and suggestions...

sounds like a problematic host ... and since you appear to be hosting on your own (?) maybe a slow email service?

Hi Nant,

problem solved - you were right - a wrong J! mail setup was making (Settings were "sendmail" instead of "PHP mail") made things very slow. Now every thing works fine again...

Thanks for the hint,

Beat
