email not required
was created by

I'm trying to setup CB so that email is not required. I was instructed in the RC3 forum to upgrade to RC4, but email is still being required during registration despite my settings (please see attached image).
Suggestions?

Re:email not required
By the way, this also happens in the frontend as well:
As you can see, the email field is not shown (based on my settings from my prior post), but it is still attempting to require an email address.

Re:email not required
Is it a javascript error BEFORE the POST, are an error coming back from server ?
checked code, my guess is that joomla requires an email in its library...

Re:email not required
Apparently, Joomla made unique emails required as of 1.5:
forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?t=115355
A workaround is mentioned here:
forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=199&t=167296
If Joomla requires emails for all users now, maybe a similar workaround would work for this as well.

Re:email not required
hm, this is a joomla error imho, from the joomla library.
in joomla 1.0 you could have a dummy email that you put in a "delimiter" field above as explanation for people without email.
In joomla 1.5 each user *needs* a different email
so i don't have a simple solution to this joomla limitation at hand...
