Split Registered users into groups

Split Registered users into groups was created by Veronika
Joomla 1.5.8, CB 1.2 RC4 - how can I spilt registered users into 3 groups (based on a CB field) so that they can see public, general registered, and "special group" pages viewable to their group only?
