Error: cURL could not retrieve the document, error 35

8 years 1 month ago #279189 by gtrennert
Hello,

I had tested a while ago my paypal sandbox for subscriptions and it worked really fine

Now that the site seems to be finalized I tested it again and it does not work anymore

On Paypal sandbox all seems to work fine : I pay and come to the page where it says that the payment is done and that I will be redirected to the vendors site
But when it redirects to my cbsub site it says :

Sorry no response for your payment from payment server (error Error: cURL could not retrieve the document, error 35.). Please check your email and status later.
No suitable basket found.

I'm searching now since 2 days what this means and I don't get it
There was not any changes in cb and cbsub setup

Any help would be really welcome !

Is this with PayPal Standard, Pro, or Advanced gateway? They all 3 have different API usages. Typically that error means the CURL URL couldn't be reached. This happens if CURL isn't setup to allow outbound HTTPS calls or a firewall maybe blocking the outbound request. You should contact your host and ask regarding those two issues and I can look into the code for further possible causes once I know what gateway you're using.

Hello,
Thanks for your answer !
I'm using PayPal Standard
I wonder because I'm not aware of using https
In the PayPal Gateway configuration I have :
Encrypt paypal form = Plain Text Form
Is there any other place where one setup the use of https ?

HTTPS is still used for outbound CURL calls. You do not need a SSL certificate or anything of the sort for this, but you need working OpenSSL and for CURL to be setup to allow outbound HTTPS calls. This is all typically server configuration that should be done by your host already. Is the "HTTPS POST subsystem status" check within CBSubs > Settings showing as green?

Is there are more detailed error within CBSubs > History Log? or a notification entry within CBSubs > Notifications. Typically if the API fails we log a more detailed error as to why.
