Hello We are experiencing connectivity and performance issues with Community Builder on our Joomla website, MonBilanSportSanté.Our server infrastructure requires outbound HTTP/HTTPS connections to use a configured proxy.Joomla provides global proxy settings to handle these connections. However, it appears that some Community Builder components or plugins do not consistently use these settings when making external HTTP requests.As a result, certain requests may bypass the configured proxy, leading to connection timeouts, failed API calls, and significant performance degradation.
Requested FixWe would appreciate it if the Community Builder development team could review and update the relevant code to ensure that:
- All outbound HTTP/HTTPS requests made by Community Builder and its plugins respect Joomla’s global proxy configuration when enabled.
- HTTP requests use Joomla’s native HTTP client or an equivalent implementation that properly supports the configured proxy settings.
- Direct cURL connections, if used, correctly inherit or explicitly apply the Joomla proxy configuration.
- Appropriate connection and request timeouts are implemented to prevent long delays when external services are unreachable.
Technical ContextWe have observed connection failures and timeouts when accessing external Google services, including:
- oauth2.googleapis.com
- Google reCAPTCHA verification services
For example, some connection attempts have resulted in cURL error 28, with timeouts exceeding 130 seconds.Although we have not yet confirmed which Community Builder component is responsible for these specific requests, we believe that ensuring consistent support for Joomla’s proxy settings would significantly improve compatibility with secured hosting environments.
Our RequestCould you please confirm whether Community Builder currently supports Joomla’s global proxy settings for all outbound HTTP requests?If this is not fully implemented, we kindly request that this functionality be included in an upcoming Community Builder update.We would prefer a permanent solution within Community Builder rather than applying custom modifications that could be overwritten during future updates.Thank you for your assistance and for your continued development of Community Builder.Best regards,Vincent Berger
