noob needing some help please

Hi people,

My problem is this, you know the tabs above the profile image edit, view, messgaes etc well 2 questions really.

1. How can I remove these tabs? or make them invisible to members

2. How can I make these tabs wider because the little circles are covered by text and it doesnt look good.
