Maximum length of front end fields

Maximum length of front end fields was created by ukfish1

I want to be able to create a field in the profile that contains a biography of the registered person. I need to be able to increase the maximum displayed file length in the front end.

Currently it only allows 255 characters. Does this need to be changed in the database?
