Altering sign-up URL for affiliate tracking?

Hello all!

My question is about the sign up process via the CB_Login module (Joomla 3 ; CB 2.012).

When pressing the "Sign up" link it leads to the following ordinary URL:
www.MyWebsiteAddress.com/sign-up/registers

But suppose I need this URL to be something else (affiliate purposes), like:
www.MyWebsiteAddress.com/what=whatever?when=whenever

Is there a nice clean way to do that?

I tried so far altering various url generated parameters of "form-login-register" href, no success however. 1st redirect is irrelevant because my purpose is to do tracking of registration purpose in real time.

Only to add, the best solution I can think of (after spending few hours in messing up the core files) is to make a simple .htaccess rewrite, but I wonder if there is more elegant solution from the 'inside'.
