As explained in your Detailed CB Documentation (you can download it from the Advanced download area) in Chapter 6.1:

• Name: params, Title: User Parameters, Type: userparams, Tab: Contact Info
This predefined field is used to group the various CMS parameters that a user can set. E.g., language setting, locale, etc.

This predefined field is used by CB to link back to the Joomla CMS parameters like Language, timezone, etc.

You should not tamper with this field.
