CB tabs, as well as Joomla articles allow to select 1 access level.

But in 1 access level definition of Joomla, you can define exactly which joomla groups are in there.

Then inheritance of permissions quicks in properly for those tabs viewing.

There is a very good article on ACL of Joomla 2.5/3.0 here:
docs.joomla.org/Access_Control_List/2.5/Tutorial

There is also a nice extension that allows to visualize complex ACL settings here:
www.aclmanager.net

Well thanks for the extension we got it !

However I still dont understand :
I have set up group public for CB global config (only groups here not access levels)
I have another group copied on public called public-only
I have an access level public with only group public
I have an access level public-only with both group public and group public-only

when I set the tab to access level public-only it does not display to the general public and does not display at all !

If I set the access level public-only to group public-only it does not display the tab neither !

What do I miss here ?

Follow this article:

docs.joomla.org/How_do_you_hide_something_from_logged_in_users%3F

exactly as outlined.

Then do the following:

1. CB Configuration -> User Profile tab -> Allow Access To: Guest
2. Create new CB Tab (call it for example: Guest only) and publish it for Guest View Access Level

Place CB fields in the tab.

This tab will only show up in profile view if you are not logged in.

This does not work.

Doing this will prevent all registered cb users to see other's profiles !
