can we assume that Quickstart has the latest CB version? If not what is the best way to install QuickStart and have the latest version of CB and plugins etc.?
Quickstart is a dynamically generated package. It will always have the latest releases in it.

Click the failed package and provide what error it's outputting. Was this a clean Joomla install or an install with CB already on it?

Looks like an install order issue. It's trying to install CB GroupJive plugins before CB GroupJive. Will fix those to have an explicit install order so it won't do that.
