Issue while uploading some jpeg in Gallery was created by Toulouzing
Some users testing the site had problems while uploading their pictures in jpeg format ( sizing is ok, readable by any software...) . I tried with some sample of their pictures in my sandbox (J6/cassiopea/latests CB plugins/no others tier components...) and can repeat the problem . Picture is not uploaded ( default folder icon in the modal window) with the following alert message for each photo " Please provide something to share".

What could happens ?

All JPEG are doing this or just some random ones? My best guess is image processor is giving out (server resource limits hit) or the file contains some degree of corruption. Given you were hitting server limits with GD and have switched to ImageMagick you're probably again hitting server resource limits. You cannot be processing large images or lots of images on budget hosts. It's just not going to work out as you're going to hit resource limits. You should be able to find this out by contacting your host though as they'll have logs for that.

The upload issue occurs ONLY on Jpeg directly coming from some cameras. It is not random at all. Seems that there is some Jpeg data ( file header, exif ?) which are not compatible either with GD2 or ImageMagick. While recording the jpeg with any treatment (such as uploading in a basic app like Paint or XnView...) it becomes readable again by the CB Gallery. Something tricky ?

So you're uploading directly from a device? Is the device Android or Apple? If so what is the modal of the device. It's possible the photos are in a format that GD2 and ImageMagick simply cannot process. Client side resizing generally solves all of that since it'll cleanly reformat on-device, but you lose EXIF data with that. I'd recommend turning client side resizing back on and see if that resolves it just to see if that'd work.

Thank you Kyle. I share your assumption. Pictures comes from hybrid cameras ( such as Canon, Nikon....) which provide directly pictures in (their own ?) JPEG format. I did trials with Resize parameter on photo (with or without smoothing) without any success . The upload succeed only if i change the resampling to other format (i.e. webp). B.ut in any case, we need to keep the Exif metadata with the image for our purpose.

You can resample server side to WEBP and still maintain EXIF data. EXIF is only lost on client side resizing. So if it displays fine when you resample server side to a new format I recommend always just resampling as that's kind of its purpose is to ensure an always functional web format. There isn't much I can do about GD2 or ImageMagick having issues processing certain files though as we're just calling PHP extensions API that's completely out of our control.
