subform file in profile was created by abqsueNM
I'm using CB 2.11.0 build 2026.05.04 and Joomla 5.4.6
A profile field has a fieldgroup (cb_dogs), and there are two sub-fieldgroups (cb_dog1 and cb_dog2) in the main one. When I include a file in a sub-fieldgroup, the link is not connecting to the file.
An example of the database table entry for the sub-fieldgroup cb-dogs is
{"1":{"cb_dog2":[{"cb_dogname":"Beta","cb_dogdob":"2022-02-01","cb_rabiesexpire":"2028-05-01","cb_rabiesda2ppfile":"Halloween2025_6a4c1ab9bf204.jpeg"}],"cb_dog1":[{"cb_dogname":"Alpha","cb_dogdob":"2021-01-01","cb_rabiesexpire":"2029-04-01","cb_rabiesda2ppfile":"Gunnar-and-Deja-carting_6a4c1ab9bf7f7.jpeg"}]}}
The link to the jpeg file is https://MY-WEBSITE/index.php/component/comprofiler/fieldclass?field=_cb_dogs__1__cb_dog2__0__cb_rabiesda2ppfile&function=download&user=321&reason=profile
But this link does not go to the file in the sub-fieldgroup - it results in a webpage with just the top menu and footer of my website, no content.
How do I connect to the correct file?

The image, video, audio, and file fieldtype have some difficulties with field group fields. I'm still working on fixing that. So they won't work very reliably right now and I don't recommend using them in a field group field.

Retested file fieldtypes and was able to confirm them working fine as I do recall making improvements to this behavior. Please be sure within CB > Plugin Management that CB Field Groups itself is both Public and Published. Next be sure your file field that your field groups field is using within CB > Field Management is accessible. Specifically it should be set to display on profile and be on a tab that's accessible to the user.

Thank you, Kyle. Yes, the Field Group is published and public, and File field is visible on profile, edit and registration. The File field works fine in a top level Field Group, but I was hoping it might work in a subform to the top level Field Group. Sounds like I may be pushing thing :). The generated URL for the file is not correct when in a sub-subform. I.e., the link is
https://MY-WEBSITE/index.php/component/comprofiler/fieldclass?field=_cb_dogs__1__cb_dog2__0__cb_rabiesda2ppfile&function=download&user=321&reason=profile
which does not link to the file.
cb_dogs is the top level Field Group subform, and cb_dog2 is the sub-subform Field Group, and cb_rabiesda2ppfile is the file.

Ah, I think I understand. So you've a file field inside of a field group that is also inside of a field group? Like the following?

- Field Group 1
- - Field Group 2
- - - File Field

Ok, was able to confirm the following does not work properly.

- Field Group 1
- - Field Group 2
- - - File Field

It's due to the field not being able to be located during the field endpoint access. Am investigating further to fix this.
