user search not working - always shows same result

Hello,

We could appreciate some help, we're running cb 1.2.2, we've just migrating from 1.0 to 1.5. and we're running joomla 1.5.7.

It seems the search for a member feature doesn’t work correctly, here are some issues I see happening.
here's where it's happening www.themulch.com/my-profile/things-to-do/find-a-member

Here's what happens:

If I’m logged in – many links go directly to my profile.
a. If I use the search function and put in any username the result is that I am redirected to "My Profile" (in my instance it's /mitch) – it doesn’t give a list of results, it just takes me to myprofile
b. If I click any of the pagination numbers along the top of the userlist result goes directly to my profile (mitch), instead of going to the second page of usernames
c. If I scroll down a little on the original search page and click on a username then it works fine

If I’m NOT logged in:
a. It only shows the first page of usernames, with links that work
b. It DOES NOT let you search, or click on any of the other pagination links (it just says you must be logged in)

I appreciate any help anyone can give.

Please check that you have a published and public Joomla menu link to CB. This link is mandatory (it even says so when creating a menu link for CB). Please also check that you have not set any core plugins or tabs as registered (should remain enabled and published) such as CB Menu or CB Core.

...and we're running joomla 1.5.7.

You're 11 releases out of date. Please upgrade to Joomla 1.5.18.

We've updated to Joomla 1.5.18 and we have a link to CB in our main menu published and public and we do not have any core plugins set to any kind of restricted access and it's still having the same issues.

Can anyone offer any other suggestions?

You still have access controls set somewhere for something. So am not able to properly test your searches. However more then likely you are using "simply any" for the search type so for example typing 022 for username will return all users with 022 somewhere in their username. Using "simple is" will be more exact, but user searching must know the persons entire username in order for search to reveal a result.

the search is set to "simple any" and we're still having the same problem.

Would it be possible to give you regular member access to try again to see the results?
