phpbb connector auto logon issue was created by Dagenham
Not exactly sure what’s happened but we changed our domain name recently to www.osmosisbeats.com , I then changed the phpbb connector so that it now points to the correct path, the control panel opens and shows just only one user to be merged and 459 users sync, weird thing is now when I login to the site then go to the forum it does not auto log me on? I have to logon on to the forum separately. I must have done some school boy error, sorry to be a pain but is there anything I can do?

I tried reinstalling the connector and creating a new user but neither had any luck. We can still use our username and passwords though so it looks like the connector has worked….

Thanks in advance

Dave

assuming this only happens when "remember me" logins happen... this was a reported issue... there is a fix here in the forums somewhere...

just updated the patches file

forge.joomla.org/sf/projects/phpbb_connector

try updating phpbbconnector.php

First of all, great plugin the PHPBB Connector!

a little question;
if I login in joomla (the cb-login offcourse), I am logged in in phpBB aswell.
But If I log in (or out) in phpBB, nothing changes in joomla/cb.

It seems logical, but since I want to provide the forum both as integrated (wrapper) and "standalone" (direct url or subdomain);
this isn't very pretty.

Is there (already) a workaround (without modding either the cores) or other solution (coming up)?

As far as I can judge now, it seems I can try to solve this by edditting the phpBB header-template, which isn't the nicest workaround, but I am afraid that once found a solution, in the nearby future it isn't supported anymore (by changes in joomla, cb or PHPBB Connector), so I first wanted to see what's already available.

Correct, setting up phpBB to log you into Joomla/CB will require some hack or template modifications.

Off of the top of my head I can't think of the files that you would need to include or functions you would need to call. Probably the easiest thing would be to redirect the login process to CB but that kind of interferes with your standalone forum idea.

Not much help at the moment...

gotta go,
Greg

The files to hack are :
template only: templates/subsilver/overall_header.tpl
(i.e. deleting the following part;
[code:1]<a href="{U_LOGIN_LOGOUT}" class="mainmenu"><img src="templates/subSilver/images/icon_mini_login.gif" width="12" height="13" border="0" alt="{L_LOGIN_LOGOUT}" hspace="3" />{L_LOGIN_LOGOUT}</a>&nbsp;[/code:1]
This deletes the login/out link in the phpBB-forum)
[ as said: disadvantage is it deletes the login/out link or replaces it with a direct link to the cms-CB-login link, will work for the most ]
and /or in de core:
(i.e. making a piece of code wich acts like the CB-login)
[ but as said, hugh disadvantage when updating the forum, always have these modded files ]

Maybe to get around this, without hacking or modding the core(s) is to read the cookie made by phpBB?? I know phpBB uses cookies to detect the login/logout status of the visitor.

By detecting an existing and valid cookie of phpBB, when visiting the site, CB-phpbb connector knows the user is already logged in?

I do not know how to interact with cookies, n'or the CB/phpbb connector code,
but there might be a way? :dry:

The connector does not handle login logout to CB/Joomla. It only reacts to the trigger from CB... So you can't make the connector log you in... You would have to make Joomla/CB log you in.

Thanks,
