What tables change/overwrite during patching?

2 years 9 months ago #325647 by DMSAdmin
Can you advise what tables are overwritten/recreated during the updating process? Our current version of CB Subs is 4.3.0. We have added a couple of fields to a couple of tables to accommodate additional information we are tracking, and view/edit those tables in a database program through an ODBC connection to MYSQL. We updated our initial install, and found that the field/schema was overwritten in the payments and payment items tables, so we have held off on any further updates. Our version is currently 4.3.0, and we are urgently needing to update to 4.5.2 because of the recent PayPal IPN issue. We just need to do this the easiest way possible so that those two tables are not altered in any way. Last time we had to recreate the lost data by hand, which took a lot of time.

Thank you in advance for any guidance on this process. I realize we are using the product in a different (unsupported) way, so again, any guidance you have for not overwriting that data and schema would be most appreciated!

Thank you.

Do not modify core database tables. Create your own table and store your data there. I cannot guarantee a core table won't be altered, sorry.
