A custom field creator would make loads of new options, for you can add many more things than only css. For example: people can show their own pictures in a gallery via external links (like with direct links from imageshack), if I create that.

Custom fields are unfortunately not possible at this point. There was some discussion about that like a year ago.

It was at teh old site (mambojoe.com), and is not available anymore.

If you have predefined templates for the users, why not just make a normal select and then postion that field in the custom tab? Then you can read the value like $extFields->fieldName. In the plugin definition xml file you can then selec taht CB does not draw the field with the normal process for this plugin.

The plugin API document really explains it all.

and again my lack of knowledge about coding has not yet enlightened the path before that have you just explained, I'll try what I can, and if i succed I'll write a tutorial on this...maybe someone can even turn it into a plugin.

It is probably easier to do as a plugin than as a hack.
