In an attempt to fix the issue a new issue has been discovered.
Use of "front end edit" param causes a fields value to be emptied entirely. Thus if you select no front end edit, add a value from backend, the user then updates their profile. The fields value will become null again (deleting the value you added in backend).
This is posing a tremendous problem when trying to add the no edit tab option.
It appears more work will be needed an apologize for the delay.
The above issue and issue in this thread are both confirmed bugs, be mindful when using "no front end edit" or "front end edit for moderators" as the values WILL empty if a user updates their profile.

That is most disturbing.
So would you suggest uninstalling the plugin completely? My customers cannot afford to lose all the data.

I have been notified of this issue, and will handle it with urgency.
In mean time, we recommend to not control the edit tab with the first RC of this plugin.

Is any progress made on fixing the Privacy Plugin issue?
My company now really has a huge need for fields and tabs to be disabled for front-end view without losing all the data due to aforementioned bug, of course.
