Do other substitutions such as [name] work? The substitution is inside of the HTML, see the href attribute; it substitutes in the profile edit URL. However, it maybe getting escaped so I can't guarantee it'll work. You can build the link manually with the below.
index.php?option=com_comprofiler&task=userDetails
Example as follows.
<a href="index.php?option=com_comprofiler&task=userDetails">Profile Edit</a>
