CB Connect has to map the fields by populating the POST data. If the POST data exists CB won't map default values. Will see if the mapping usage can be improved in a later CB Connect to not have to use the POST, but it's not likely to work.
Defaults will never apply if you're using single sign on though as that code simply is never processed.
