Joomla 4 migration was created by activha
Hello

I am trying to figure out what needs to be updated on a dev server in order to migrate from joomla 3.10 to joomla 4
Could you tell me if there are any updates special to joomla 4 for CB and its plugins ? or will the latest nightly builds work for both joomla 3 and 4 ?
For instance we stil have the plugin CB Core redirect dating from 2012. Is it still valid ?
Same question for a module named CB Advanced search dating from 2011.

Thanks for the help

Just ensure you've latest build releases installed and you're good to go. My development environment has been Joomla 4 for nearly a year so everything is well tested on it.

For instance we stil have the plugin CB Core redirect dating from 2012. Is it still valid ?

That doesn't even have a purpose anymore and can just be installed.

Same question for a module named CB Advanced search dating from 2011.

Also no longer needed and can be uninstalled.

Thanks for the feed back :-)

After a quick review it seems like there are a lot of old code, aliases and other things in the website.
Could I consider starting from a brand new scratch joomla 4 installation, install the CB and plugins and then copy the DB tables concerning all CB and plugins (CBSubs included) ?
I would do the same for com_content and menus and we should be with a clean installation.
Is it feasible this way for CB and plugins ?

Thanks

Yes that could work. You'll have other tables to deal with though like Joomla's user table, usergroups table, view access level table, etc.. by doing that approach. However Joomla 3 to Joomla 4 upgrade is pretty smooth. I recommend cloning your site, cleaning up old out of date no longer maintained plugins/extensions, then upgrading to Joomla 4.
