Yes it will work for unpublished groups. Also, if the group is unpublished, will the above setting work?
Pages do not have user management so for those group types it will create the group user row in the database, but page groups have no user management so it doesn't really do anything.I was also looking at the Group Primer document that only mentions 3 types, but has since included new types. How do the others work? Below is a copy of what I pulled from the PDF:

Where would I configure this?Note groups can only have 1 owner so for your usecase I suggest setting that to "Member" to make them an active member of the group.

Ah, ok then you don't need to worry about selecting status. They'll be placed in the group as active members.Just so you know, the setting where I set up the member being added as a member of the group was here: I was referring to was in the Plan>Integrations>GroupJive. (Hopefully that's all I needed to do)
Group types are described as follows on frontend of group edit. For Private, how is it different from Approval or Invite?
Private is only visible if you're a member of it or you're a CB Moderator as moderators of course have full access in order to moderate.I noticed, when I set the group to private, it's still visible, but people can't interact with it. And if it's private, how do people get added to it (from admins/backend or would I need to enable the "Invite" feature for existing members?)

Thanks, and to be sure, the ability to add people to groups this way (via plan integration), no matter which type of group it is, and even if it's disabled?Ah, ok then you don't need to worry about selecting status. They'll be placed in the group as active members.

Yes, within CB > User Management you should see a "Add CB GroupJive Groups" button. Select the users you want to add to groups then click that. Also, other than enabling the "Invites" Tab, can Admin add people to groups on the backend?
That would require the group type to be Approval, but yes that's doable.2. Approving members by admin if members invite people (This, I am not sure, is possible, unless the group is of Approval Type)
