Language override question

Already had this test case setup and seams to be working fine. What asset are you using when generating that activity from CB Auto Actions? It should be a CB Gallery asset. Probably something like the following depending on what trigger you're using gallery.[var1_type].[var1_id].

Notice in the logged out view the media is completely gone.

The assert used by the auto action is gallery.[var1_type].[var1_id]

I am sorry but i do not understand how to test what you send. Can i see this setup on the demo site?

Maybe showing to guest  a small part of what they get as registered users seems like a bug to you as a developer! But this is what makes guests become members and order subscriptions and keep the community alive. The same exact problem we had when community builder decided that showing to guests the intro text of registered access articles, was a bug!

No... this was not a bug... this was a gift! Because it helped us show to guest users that there is activity inside our community. It is not a dead community!

So now... guest users do not see new articles intro because this was a bug, guest users do not see that registered users upload images because this is a bug, i do not know what else will be considered as a bug in the future... what will the guest user see in the cb activity stream to be attracted to register on our site?

Guests aren't meant to see activity for things they have no access to. I understand you're trying to show a teaser, but that's just not how this is designed.

Because that's how Joomla behaves. You can't access articles you don't have access to.

I'm not sure what else you're expecting me to do there. If I show something users can't access then Customer A complains here that articles are showing when they shouldn't. If I don't show them then Customer B complains that there's no teasers showing. I can't win here.

For articles I have at least added a feature ticket to show intro text/image. This will probably just be another toggle under Integrations tab of streams.

For galleries I'm not really sure what to do here. The media itself won't render due to the access check fail. Will see about some sort of other toggle there that outputs some generic error of some kind that can be customized with language string or template file, but still render the activity row itself.

I've added a feature ticket to review explicitly implementing some kind of post teaser feature. I don't have the details of how I'd go about this yet, but basically a way to keep the post in the activity feed, but obscure its content (server side) and display some kind of message.

Ok, believe my second feature ticket above will do the trick. I'm reviewing implementation now. Ideally will have something available by end of this week.

Basically within a Stream (CB Activity > Streams > Activity) you'll have a "Previews" section under the Display tab. In that will be an "Assets" parameter where you supply a comma list of assets to render previews for (this will support wildcards). It will then render preview activity entries in the event an entry is server side aggregated away.

So for example if you want articles to always render intro text and intro image you'd just use "article.%". If you wanted CB Gallery entries to say someone shared media you'd use "gallery.%.%" for all gallery types or "gallery.photos.%" for gallery photos only.

Will this work for you? It'll be template driven so you'll be able to customize the previews to display however you like from CB Activity template files as well.

The goal is not to show the images that are meant to be shown to registered user. The goal is to make the guest user register.
I believe the easiest approach would be to be able to add a custom image instead of icon-image.webp
Then on the image the admin can add whatever message he wants.
 

icon-image.webp is a template file so that can already be overridden. The preview feature in my last reply will effectively do the same and show a fake sample image, but likely blurred so it seams like there's something there. Message will be a language string per-asset type so will be customizable from language override or template file.
