I try to be more precise. :--)
- For each group / page / event category you can define a DIFFERENT profile. The profile is like a "table definition".
- The categories of videos, pictures and audio don't have a special profile.

I'm really just not able to visualize what you're after here. In CB GroupJive the below is how it works.

Category
- Group
- - Videos

Category is just a container for groups. There is no categorization beyond that. Videos are tied to individual groups. They're owned by the group user that shared the video.

We've a full comprehensive demo below with backend access. I recommend exploring it. Feel free to change whatever configuration you want as it'll reset automatically.

demo.cbdemosites.com/

Below specifically is CB GroupJive.

Categories View: demo.cbdemosites.com/demos/cb-groupjive/all-categories/allcategories
Category Groups View: demo.cbdemosites.com/demos/cb-groupjive/all-categories/1-community-builder-add-ons

My product / producer example is not the requested feature. Of course, this can be achieved by HikaShop or something else. My marketplace setup was only the solution to the product-->producer issue.

Groups are attached to a user. There's no means of not having an owner for a group. However technically the groups owner could be just an administrator. You could then create a group per product to accomplish what you're wanting automatically using CB Auto Actions.

I however would go a different route. I'd integrate CB Activity into your HikaShop products. Either a Comment or Activity stream would work. This would give a fully functional multi-media discussion stream directly on each product. You wouldn't need groups at all for this usage. So that might also be something worth considering.

We don't have an out of the box solution, but it seams like either of those integrations could potentially fulfill your needs with a bit of extra work and coding. To integrate CB GroupJive groups into your products you'd need some PHP experience. To integrate CB Activity you'd just need to know what Joomla event HikaShop has for adding content to product views and shouldn't require any programming with CB Auto Actions.

Hello,

Just to give an impression, what you can do in EasySocial.

I have defined a page category "technical object".

I select the technical object F2548:

The object has properties (custom fields), discussions and videos.
We can look at the only video of the technical object, which is additionally posted into the video category "SAP&ERP".

When I move to the video categories and then choose the video category  "SAP&ERP", I can find the video belonging to the technical object F2548, but also all other videos of this category..

Multi-dimensional information.....

That's somewhat doable. The way CB Activity and CB Gallery work is it uses an Asset. The Asset determines where and what something belongs to. In GroupJive this would be "groupjive.group.GROUP_ID". When viewing a group the gallery would only show media specific to that group. To have a gallery show all group media you'd have an asset of "groupjive.group.%" and you're done as it'd then show all media for every group.

The categorization part looks like it's just a tagging system. CB Gallery doesn't have tagging at this time. CB Activity however does. A tagging system for CB Gallery is currently being reviewed for CB Gallery 3.0.0. So the only alternative here would be Albums for the time being.

Custom fields in CB GroupJive are supported, but require coding to accomplish. There currently is no interface for adding new fields, but this is planned in a future release. It's possible to add new fields using CB Auto Actions to help minimize the coding though.

Sorry, I do not have a one to one solution for you.

hi, i am also still looking for a suitable alternative to easysocial.
i have already announced my interest in this topic that if others are interested in a migration from easysocial to community builder it might be worthwhile for everyone to take a closer look.

@krileon we have talked about this before and you said that after the release of CB v3 you would have more time or you would possibly look at a migration option, is that still the case? the interest is becoming more and more as you can see.

After CB 3.0 yes we'll be looking at potential migration tools. They are likely to only be available to subscribers though as this would require us to purchase EasySocial to even develop it. I wouldn't expect something like this to be available for quite some time though unless the development was sponsored to justify us stopping all other development to create it.
