Adding pre-filled values to registration fields

Hi everyone, I'm new here so will probably be asking some ridiculous questions!

I've added a couple of profile fields which I have arranged to show in a separate tab on the profile. The fields are for credits that the site users have earned and I will be updating these manually.

However, I do want to award 5 'credits' automatically at sign up. On the field management screen I have added this figure to the 'prefilled default value at registration only', however when testing it this doesnt appear to hold the value on the profiles.

Any ideas how to get this working? I don't want to go down the route of alpha user points.

Prefilled only works if the field is actually on registration as the parameter implies and the documentation explains. For what you're wanting you'll need incubator project CB Fields to utilize the after registration trigger to alter the fields value.

Thanks Krileon, I've installed the plugin, are there any instructions anywhere for how to use it that you may be able to point me in the direction of?
