I feel so stupid, but just where in the database can I disable the CBSubs Bot? Which table, row and field? I'm sure it should be obvious but I'm not that familiar with the tables/data/etc - but I'm trying to learn.
Once the CBSubs Bot (plugin) is disabled in database, then if I understand you correctly, I can then access the backend from the browser and then install the current version of CB and CBSubs.
Once that is successful, I should then be able to reactivate (enable) the CBSubs plugin again. Is this correct?
Assuming your database prefix is jos_ you can run the below query which will disable it for you.

UPDATE `jos_extensions` SET `enabled` = 0 WHERE `element` = 'cbpaidsubsbot'
If your prefix is not jos_ then please replace it with whatever it is.
