[#3489] HTTP vs HTTPS Video Links in GJ was created by drdehart
CB 1.8 & GJ 2.5.1 - Our site is https:// and when a video (in this case youtube) is added to the video tab with an http:// address, if the browser (in this case IE9) is set to only view secure links, it breaks the template. All tabs are arranged vertically unless the user allows "unsecure" links to be viewed. See attached screenshot.

I recall this issue from the original release and thought is was fixed. Is the problem back? Or do you see it at all on your end?

That's not from the videos it's from CBs JS not loading in so the tabs JS isn't being applied. Check that $live_site is empty in configuration.php as often users supply a URL to it beginning with http, which results in all links built from it being http regardless if viewing as https or not. You can confirm this by reviewing the header of your site in IE dev (F12) and see if the scripts loaded in are https or not.

actually live_site variable is set to $live_site = 'www.domain.com'; in our case - it is necessary because of a uddeim issue discussed here: www.joomlapolis.com/forum/25-uddeim-plugin-and-component/195224-uddeim-api-access-using-cron

But I think you are saying it should work if live_site is set to https, which it is?

$live site should be blank. Please set it as blank and test if it resolves your issue. You should never have to populate $live_site unless you're doing a permanent domain pointer (alias, etc..). Once done review your browser error console while viewing a group and see if there are any fatal JS errors.

well - we're kindof between a rock and a hard place since udddeim won't work with it blank and gj won't work with it set. But we removed the live_site setting for testing and the problem is still visible. So setting that to blank does not resolve this.

I understand that IE is going to give us that warning that there are http links in the video tab, but it doesn't seem like it should break the template like this.

Please test with the same browser and same page viewing it as HTTP instead of HTTPS. Please also test disabling the video plugin and see if that resolves your issue. The problem is all the JS is failing. Not even the jQuery is loaded successfully.
