Gravatar Setup

Hi there, I've been searching and searching the site for documentation on setting up Gravatar support and have found nothing helpful.

My setup is:
Joomla 3.4.1
K2 2.6.9
Kunena 3.0.8
CB 2.0.7

I have downloaded and installed Gravatar plugin and setup a gravatar field but it does not link up with the gravatar email account. What am I doing wrong? The documentation for the gravatar plugin is pretty vague.

Once CB Gravatar Field is installed, public, and published you need to create a new Gravatar field within CB > Field Management. Next edit your profile and supply the email address to the new gravatar field and save your profile.

I've done all that, but if I have email address as part of the user registration, how would you tie that to the gravatar plugin? Or is the only way to do it is to have an email address for user registration/profile and a separate one for the gravatar plugin?

I guess what I'm asking is, how would you tie the users registration email address to the gravatar plugin? The user should not have to enter their email again for the gravatar plugin, it should be automatic... Kunena forum has the option to use gravatar avatars, pulling from the main user email address without having to enter their email address again for gravatar. That being said, kunena only has the option to use gravatar (replacing all other avatars) or not use gravatar.

Only way to do that right now is to use CB Auto Actions and its Field action on the after registration and after profile update triggers to push their email to the gravatar field. I added a feature ticket for it to just use their existing email instead of asking for a gravatar email for next release. CBs usage isn't an all or nothing scenario; it's a completely different field that acts like a image field in its display.

So, further experimenting with this, I now have my gravatar working, but only for my CB profile - it shows the default avatar for Kunena and K2, but not the gravatar image. What am I missing here?

K2 and Kunena only pull the avatar field. Edit your avatar field in CB > Field Management then under Parameters > Layouts substitute in your gravatar field for the avatars profile view layout and userlist layouts and it should work in K2 and Kunena as well. Example as follows.

Profile Value Layout:
[cb:userfield field="cb_gravatar" /]

Userlist Value Layout:
[cb:userfield field="cb_gravatar" reason="list" /]
