[SOLVED] GroupJive Groups Not Displaying Properly

9 years 10 months ago - 9 years 10 months ago #270904 by moozarkgrl
I'm having problems with group access. I have top-level categories for each state. Within each state, I have 5 groups. I want to enable some user(s) to create sub-groups under one specific group. All users are registered. I changed access to manager for one user and user created one sub-group. Here are the problems I'm having:
1: Other registered users cannot view this group.
2: Group owner is also able to create categories which I DO NOT want.

Here are my settings:
Top Category: type:open,group access:registered,invite:group owner,users public:yes,nested:disable,nested access:group owner.
All Groups: type:open,group access:registered,users public:yes,nested:disable,nested access:group owner.
Sub-Group: type:open,group access:registered,invite:group owner,users public:yes,nested:disable,nested access:group owner

Within GJ > Configuration > Categories > General set "Create" to "Disable". This will prevent anyone but CB Moderators from creating categories. If you don't want to allow nesting in groups then navigate to GJ > Configuration > Groups > General and set "Nested" to "Disable". To adjust who can create groups navigate to GJ > Configuration > Groups > General and adjust "Create Access" as needed.

I'm currently rewriting GJ though so a lot of these confusing parameters will be going away.

To adjust the nested create access on a per group basis you need to edit the group and adjust "Nested Access" as needed. In your case set "Nested" to "Disable" in each group except for the 1 you want to allow nesting. Then set "Nested Access" as needed for that 1 group. Please note Nesting is being removed in the rewrite so you may not want to design around its usage.
