User music upload to k2 item? was created by goodbyname
Hi everyone,

Okay...I'm new to Joomla, K2 and Community Builder...but somehow, with the awesome community support (thank you) and working through W3 tutorials of CSS to php...I'm working on a project using all three. I'm quite happy, up until this issue, if you could help?

I have website registration through CB...CB users can manage and edit their profiles, add a blog etc....and (importantly) upload K2 articles from front end. All lovely. However, I would like them to upload their own MP3s and for these MP3s to appear on their specific K2 items --so they can have different K2 items with specific music tracks. So...they have a profile.....they create a K2 item (album product page) and then need to upload preview tracks specific to this album on that K2 item.

I have tried AllVideos, but it didn't seem to integrate. The player would show up, but wouldn't link to the track it had uploaded. I have played with the path....images/audio ??
I tried to install CBPlayer, but it wouldn't install.
I have looked at a few media players...1) they all seem preoccupied with video and embedding, but 2) I can't seem to find one that would link specific tracks from one user, to their specific K2 item.

I can upload working music on the actual CB profile...I would like the users to have a tab with ALL their preview tracks on them anyway...perhaps they can simply link specific tracks to specific K2 items, but have them all on their tab too? So...would that be a php get etc in the item.php.....that I don't know how to do yet? If CB saves the user MP3s to their own file in comprofiler/images/audio...would that work?

Your help would be much appreciated. This is the last hurdle before I finish styling and get the site live.
I have included a screenshot of a user's current K2 item page.

Many thanks

Not much I can suggest for your k2 questions.
Best to post on the K2 forums for assistance on k2 issues.

For CB you might want to try the new CB Gallery add-on as it supports all media types.

Hi Nick, thank you.

That sounds good...I have just upgraded to pro and saw the Gallery add on. I thought the CB content add ons which let me add user fields and tabs to joomla articles might be the answer....I assume that counts for K2 items too as it all seems integrated?

Am enjoying all the tutorials and help...am sure I am on the right track.

Thank you

You can substitute in a CB audio field into K2 I suppose, but that's just for display. They'd still need to do the uploading/linking from their profile. To substitute fields into articles you need to have CB Content Bot installed then you can use the following usage in your articles. This should work with K2, but it's not specifically designed for it (only tested with Joomla content).

{cb}SUBSTITUTIONS{/cb}

See the below tutorial for substitution usage information.
