OK - I think we made it work
However, I'm running into (possibly) similar roadblock with RSTicketsPro component - i do not have any confirmation from the developers, but from what I can tell, the situation would be similar here - if there is no integration with CB API, they most likely are using the Joomla API when users are created. That would pose the same issue hrere - since the CB is set up to take over the registration, if user registers by creating a ticket, the account will be automatically created by RSTicketsPro (using Joomla API) - which will then cause the verification issue as we had in EventsBooking.
I don't want to keep going and creating CB API solution for every component we use along with CB - right now, I'm running into possible second case and I don't have budget for this - so what's the solution here?
Should I setup CB to work same as Joomla "allow registration" ? why do you recommend the other option?
